Beatrush aluminum underpanel
I bought this from KamiSpeed in Orlando at our meet last April ...and finally had time to install last month! Some say that the underpanel should yield a little better mileage, but I mainly wanted it for some added protection from road debris ...OK, and 'cause I really, really like how it looks ...even if I'm the only one who looks at it :)
The kit includes these 3 brackets ...first you remove the stock plastic 'underpanel'. Then these brackets go on. There's only one way they can go, so it's pretty intuitive: A couple of 10mm bolts hold the side panels/braces in place: And then the panel slips under the bumper and gets screwed to the 3 brackets and to the side panel/brackets. The kit includes brackets that theoretically bolt to the frame - I installed one of them (something like 120 ft lbs, so used an impact wrench) - and then decided there was no need for it and removed it. The underpanel is plenty secure without those extra brackets (one of them is visible in the pic above, before I removed it). Some more misc pics:

I have one of those also, haven't played with it yet -- good job on the install and thanks for posting pics!

Gosh, I don't know what they go for now. Back in April, Kami offered some nice discounts during the Yaris/Fit/Scion meet, so I got it for $145. That price was part of why I bought it back then even though I knew it'd be a while before I'd have time to install it.

Nice look and very clean. I ran over some of these a few months back and ripped my plastic splash guard right out. I pulled up to the spikes and started to go over them to slow. When my front tires hit it cuased me to roll backward. Oh well. As far as the meet in Orlando I was there and did not know they where selling these or I would have picked one up. I wonder if he still has any. Do you still have the invoice or receipt with a number on it? Maybe I can give Kami a call about a price. Hey Cali what happened to the R&D on the one you where going to put out with a price range of a hundred or so? I know your busy being the best vendor on YARisWORLD and all. I would think that it would not be to hard to cut a door and but a hinge and locking mechanism on it.

Nah.
I just changed my oil this past weekend. The underpanel adds *maybe* 5 minutes to the task. I think it's 7 allen-head bolts to loosen and the panel slips out. No big deal at ALL, and it gives me a chance to give the panel a quick wipe with a rag to clean the dust off :)

I remember talking to you when we where there. I was the guy with the train horn. I guess I will have to see if Kami's account got deleted or not and send him a pm. Thanks for looking.

Cool. I was looking to making a custom skid plate. I had one laying aroudn the shop from another car. Apparently someone forgot to put it back on when they were done with the oil change lol. I was gona take some shears and trim it til it fit my car and mount it. But much rather have aluminum one seems more stronger and plus its vented.

The only problem I think I might have is down the road when I go with a turbo kit. Not sure how far back the panel goes so I am not sure if I will have to go with a custom manifold for it to fit.
If anyone has any measurements, please let me know how far back the panel sits. |

Does anyone know if this actually reduced drag and increased MPG?
