You guys that like or run drop-ins...I'll have the Simota drop-ins available in a few days.
Probably less that $30.00 shipped. Run dry or oiled.

So, do dry filters filter better or worse than oiled filters? Thanks for the responses.

neither is better or worse, really

lots of it is conjecture and hearsay

it just seems to me that some people on this forum are AFRAID of oiled filters thinking that theyll screw up their mass airflow sensor....which really wouldnt be the case....

so I guess the main difference.. is that the oiled filters dont have to be cleaned for many more miles than the dry ones.. I guess the dry ones have to be cleaned every 3k? and they both filter about the same?

I like the idea of not ever having to reoil a filter.. not really worried about the maf.. but I wonder what the pros and cons of filtration and air restriction go when considering a dry and oiled filter media.

i personally like that the oiled filter will repell water drips and that the oil will hold dirt and dust

ive never used a dryflow filter though, so i can only speak from my oiled filter experience.

like i said earlier, or somewhere else, in my matrix i would clean the filter on my cai every 6 months or so (whenever i put on or took off my winters and front body kit/chins). itd get dusty and grimy from the summer construction in the area and dirty and grimy from road muck all winter....the cai filter was below the driversside headlight......i had 2 cone filters so id always have one clean one around to do a quick swap when the time came...

Yo Guys,

I do not know if you guys get BMC FIlters there, I am running one, and it comes pre oiled, it never lets anything in your intake, not dust or whatever you can think of, Simote is a piece of crap, K N are also good.

The BMC gives a nice sound to...

Have a look....

Finally installed the K&N drop-in air filter today.
Noticed improved engine response.

The whole oiled filters causing a dirty MAF is the result of stupid people thinking together on the internet, MAF sensors go through a self-cleaning cycle every time you start the car. A dry filter is fine for normal street use, but oiled filters will do better in dirtier environments, and prechargers help in both cases.
