I think we have to cut the body side plug and connect ithe body side wires to the connector we received.

Just gotta figure out how to connect it properly using disconnects or pin contacts...

Sort of.

I only got the Left side
Right side is still with customs awaiting release.

Should have it by Wednesday.

Ok this is what you need to do.

1) Cut the body side plug
2) Refer to the transplant page here for wire colours and associated operations of each wire: http://www.k4.dion.ne.jp/~vitz/RStail.htm#
3a) Plug in your connector and map out where the LIGHT SIDE wires are located when you view the connnector from the open end
3b) Remove the connector and get ready for some wire stripping and connecting
4) Strip your body side wires appropriately, attach the exposed wire to FEMALE MOLEX TERMINALS. Crimp them tightly. Insert them into the connector we have received in the right places to match up what you mapped out in in Step 3a), and lock them in place. This is the new body side plug.
5) Connect your body side plug to the JDM Tail Light
6) Enjoy

FEMALE MOLEX TERMINALS can be located at any electronics store, and I will be buying all of them in Vancouver so none of you guys can get your JDM tails in your Yaris without me being the first one!

I believe the shop manual shows how to release the pins from the connector - but I may be wrong. That would beat cutting the wires.

That would be an excellent alternative.

I'll start browing through the shop manual for such instructions if they exist..

Just another thought, the connector on the body side molex is Female, so it might be easier to just push out.

Ok got another method for you.

If you have a Female Molex Remover, then all the power to you. All you do is put it around the female molex from the body side from the top, push the pins down, and then gently pull the wire while pushing it from the top.

For those of us without an electronics arsenal, a sewing needle pin and patience will work. Same idea here. Just push the clips down enough so you remove the terminal + wire from the molex. After it's removed, pull the clips out a little so that when you push them into your new molex connector, they will snap in place.

AHH here we go.

1) Disconnect negative battery terminal
2) Remove stock tail light assembly
3) Disconnect stock light plug from body side plug (the plastic plugs that snap together are known as the molex)
4) From the BODY side, disconnect each Female Molex Pin.

There is a total of 6 pins, and you will need to "map out" which wire matches up with the OPERATIONAL function of the each wire on the JDM tail light. Take a close look at the transplant page at http://www.k4.dion.ne.jp/~vitz/RStail.htm# to determine this.

The female molex pins look like slits. You can use a Female Molex Pin Removal Tool if you have one that works with pins this small, or you can use a sewing needle, flat head microscrewdriver, or some other tool that is thin enough (and sturdy enough) to push down the clips that lock each pin it its original molex.
5) After you have removed all female molex pins from the original molex connector, fix each molex pin by pulling the clips back out a bit so that it can lock in place.
6) Connect each female molex pin into the JDM connector for the tail lights following the "map" from the transplant page. This is very important, do not mix up where your wires should go. Refer to the transplant page and double check that the body side wire matches the corresponding function the JDM light side wires are intended for.
7) Each female molex pin should snap into your JDM connector and be secure.
8) Connect your new body side molex (plug) into the JDM tail light molex (plug)
9) Reinstall your tail light, reconnect negative battery terminal, and give it a go!

It sounds complicated, but it is real easy. Hyde wasn't lying.
The most painful part is removing the female molex pin connectors from the body side molex (plug). It takes about 5 minutes per pin if you don't have the proper tools.

A hair clip (those tiny black ones) will do the job of removing the pin from the connector!

Your wife/gf/whatever should have one. :)

So all the harness, bulbs and connectors are in the package ready to go? Just have to reconnect them? That sounds easy!! Waiting for some pics!

Good one GabL.. I've got a few on my wallet because I keep finding them in my car.

Yes, all the bulbs are in place. It's basically plug and play after dealing with the pin/molex issue.

I would install mine tonight, like right now, if I had BOTH assemblies here.

But for some weird reason I only received the left side, and the right one is still being held by my best friends at Canada Customs.
