Experiment in Moderation
Used Citgo 87 octane gas, Castol Syntech 5W-30 oil, no special effort to P&G but moderation in the pedal. Kept to the right lane with the flakes, Cell phone users and others . Moderate passes if they were too bad.
Air inlet temp was roughly 50 degrees Fahr (about 10 celsius). Mileage yielded on a 25 mile run (about 40 klicks). Scangage mileage was 41mpg). On return trip (also 25 miles or 40 klicks) Air Inlet Temp was about 41 degrees Fahr (about 6 Celsius) and yielded about 38 mpg per Scangage. Max speed was roughly sixty two miles per hour, a great reduction from my usual seventy to eighty mph. Resulting mileage improved considerably. At no time was Defrost used. There is a definite correlation between Air Inlet Temps and mileage. Need more data points for definitive conclusions. Gene |

Are you using Castrol Syntec Synthetic oil, or regular petrol based? Also, for best mileage (providing you've tried this), do you notice a difference if you keep the rpms below a certain level. Such as never accelerating over 3500/4000rpm?
