Or, I might try backing it out the moulding a little to fill the gap more.

The car's not running when I send mine through the carwash. The track monster machine pulls it through the tunnel.
Two guys who do not make enough money scrub it with soft brushes on poles. That's followed by a high flow rinse and then a light rinse. I think the water is wetting the filter during the high flow rinse.

Be careful with this. The reason I have the Yaris is because my civic si's motor blew when it was really raining a month ago (cold air intake sucked up water from a large unavoidable puddle).

Maybe stuff 1 foot of nylon rope in the gap right before going to the carwash.
Rain does not pose a problem.

Yeah, but they clean all the windows on the inside, vacuum and dry.
I'm just a lazy ass.

Yikes! To me $9.99 every two weeks is too much.

I put a seal between the hood and bumper so no water gets in anymore to my intake.

as for winter driven cars....i would do a major spring clean in my trix after all the snow was gone and it'd usually last a month or two....just used simple green degreaser (cover the alternator, air filter, and battery) and then hose down the engine bay....super clean, super easy

Where did you buy the seal? Do you have a manufacturer and product name or part number?
