I hand wash my car. I did notice after it rains. WHen i open my hood there is water in the area if the afe intake. So decided to just seal it up extra good as a precation. If you notice when you open the hood of the car you can see the street floor below. My car is lowered already and the air going through the grill causes a draft from the empty space below allowing cool air to go through. Ever notice when you open one window in your house it lets some cool air in but if you open another one across the other side it creates a nice cool draft that cools even better. I think its the same concept. I dont think putting a extra seal trapping water and air at the hood bonnet is going to make any difference in engine bay temperature. Also if anything would make the car slightly more areodynamic since there isnt that drag anymore.

i got it from some place called softseal. They sell all sorts of automotive weather seals. Do a search. Another member posted the part number for it before.

Thanks to 1NZYaris1, I put the bonnet seal he sent me around the edge of the engine compartment. After going through the carwash, I opened the hood and the aFe filter appeared to be dry. No CEL.
