Arm rest problem!!
I have a stock 07' Yaris Sedan. My arm rest doesn't stay down..as you can see in the 1st pic.. its opened and it always pops back up when i push it down. The problem is the hook on the top part doesn't grab the bottom part because the top part is pushed out and it stays like that like a mechanical umbrella that wont stay closed all the way. the 2nd pic, you can see the arm rest has a little gap.. thats what i need to somehow push back in and make it stay.. the 3rd pic is how the gap is supposed to look like..nice and tight. with a teeny gap. so the hook for the top part of the arm rest can grab the bottom. can anyone please help me with this situation? thanks!!!

I suppose I shouldn't comment, as I don't have an armrest, but I would think that there
is a hinge back under there. Perhaps you could check to see if there are screws that hold the hinge on and make sure they are tight? |

Show us a picture of the hinge and latch. There maybe some adjustments you can make.

Whatever is loose is not exposed. Look behind the armrest to see if there are screws you can tighten. If it is broken plastic, it will be a harder fix.

The plastic latch is just worn out. Go to a local dealer and pick one up. Should be very cheap. More than likely under 10 dollars. Well worth the aesthetics to fix it.

There are 2 screws(maybe 4) in the cupholder behind the console lid. Remove those, and then pull the big piece of plastic on the back off. That should leave you with the above picture. Tighten the four screws in the top of the picture, and the four on the bottom of the lid at the bottom your picture I had this exact problem, and this fixed it perfectly. Here's how to assemble it: And these are the four screws you need to tighten: |
