Alignment Question
I have read through some posts on alignment, but I am still a little confused.
I lowered my car on DF210s probably 9 months ago and never got an alignment. I have not noticed uneven tire wear, but I still have quite a bit of understeer, even with the sway bar. I was thinking I should finally get an alignment and that I should get a more performance based alignment. Do I have to buy camber bolts and have them installed when they are doing the alignment, and also tell them the specs that I want it aligned too? What specs do I want it aligned to for a fun street setup? |

You can have it aligned without camber bolts, but the range of adjustment is more limited. You are almost sureely in-need of alignment after a 2" drop. Your lack of tire wear is probably a combination of a very light car and you not realizing that its weating ina sawtooth pattern from toe problems.
If not, you got lucky. Camber bolts are a vey good investment if you plan to get an aggressive alignment. If not, you don't ususally need them, but they are cheap, easy and effective. (like a good stripper!) A great street alignment that is tire-friendly is -2.0 degrees camber in front with zero toe. toe-out is fun, but can make the car track poorly at highway speeds. If your rear wheels are not rubbing or giving you significant alignment problems, I'd leave them alone on a street setup. Rear alignment is not adjustablre on our cars without aftermarket parts. The front alignment is worth every penny. You will be AMAZED at the improvement. |
