One thing is for sure...Toyota isn't going to let oil drain as long as I do and even 3.5 quarts is pushing it on an oil change. Quoting 5 quarts is ridiculous....

Quote! That looks like an invoice to me.
IMO charging for 5 quarts while providing 3.9 is criminal !
An oversight no dought, but an inexcusible one.

5 qts is for the generic special of an oil change from a dealer. I brought this to my dealers attention and they said the computer doesnt put specific quart amounts for each car and the 5 qts was a generic amount to cover all the cars they service with their oil change specials.

just an after thought. My oil change specials through my dealer ususally runs about 24.50 on special with a coupon which I get about every 5000 miles. Not to bad in this day and age.

It costs me around $24 to do an oil change myself, with really good Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil. And takes 10-15 minutes if you work fast

With a coupon and rebate I was able to get a few cases of Castrol GTX 5w30 for 99cents/quart from Checker Auto Parts. Another coupon from Toyota I bought their oil filters for $3.99 each. Each oil change costs me 8 bucks and I know that I put the right amount in every time.

Also I rotate the tires on each 5000 mile service. I haven't timed the process but I am sure it takes well under an hour.

this is weird... Actually, i've never did regular oil change at a toyota dealer..

My echo always had mobile1 oil change at every 5000miles/8000km. I did it myself all the time.

With the yaris, i never really had that much time to spend on it when i first got my car.. so i had it done at the dealer.. mobile1 also... here's what it says... (sorry, it's in french! :) ) And ignore the key, i bought a spare key at that time...

If any oil change is done quicker than 30 minutes, you're doing it wrong. I've had oil still dripping at 25 minutes.

Whatever though, your car, pay more for a worse oil change.

Though that may be true, the warmer your engine is, the faster the oil will exit your car.

Id assume that if you've been doing oil changes at the right intervals, a little left over won't matter.

Did you just find the urban dictionary definition of qq? Its like your favorite phrase these days.. Kinda makes you sound like the kids I play on counter strike.

Expand my mind and tell me how leaving more dirty oil in your engine, and paying more for this service is a good thing.

edit: I see by your ninja edit you realize how dumb saying qq is... lol

edit edit: your ninja edit makes a good point though... in the real world, most jiffy lube places/ dealerships will have a car or 2 ahead of you... IF you are lucky enough to make it out in 15 minutes(the 1% demographic) you are right. But those that sit 15 minutes before their car even goes in, the oil is colder, and even less oil comes out.

You don't see. I ninja edited cause I didn't wanna come off mean. But oh well.

Anyways, if you change your oil enough, then whatever oil you have left will just be drowned out by your new oil. No matter how long you wait, theres no way you can get every single drip of oil out of your car. So you saying what you said is kinda dumb. Oil will be in the car. It will just be mixed with the new oil, then drained again at your next oil change interval.

You missed the part about how I said theres nearly a Jiffy Lube around every corner. You can also keep your engine on. And you've no actual proof that theres a 1% demographic. And don't tell me that isn't true. You're in Socal also. You've seen them.

So lets just keep making stuff up, as well as assume that I found something "Dumb".

BTW, QQ is a World of Warcraft term. Where the average player age is 28. So please, assume more. Makes you look ever awesome.

I agree with this...I usually let my oil for ATLEAST an hour and that's on a piping hot motor. Let it drain and do something productive....while getting a better oil change.

Anyways, I see your point in w/e you're saying. I just don't agree with it.

Idk why you're adding your opinions like "worse oil change" and stuff like that. Opinions are opinions. Unless you're going to come and prove to me that theres scientific proof that it is indeed worse, then idk.

Anyways, qq or not. gg.

Do you think that by letting it drip for 30min to an hour you are getting all the old oil out of the motor? Hmmm... good one there. If you're a big baller try this... change your oil and, of course, let it drip drip drip for an hour. After completing the oil change with fresh oil, run your motor for a couple of minutes and then [insert dramatic drum roll here] drain your oil again. You may be surprised what you see in your oil drain pan...

Might as well swap out the engine, since there may be oil inbetween the pistions you're going to miss. Damn that used oil.
