Back from SEMA... Man are my feet killing me, we put in some serious miles.

Toyota did a great job with the display, and cleaning the car up for the show. They made 500 Yaris and 500 X-Runner t-shirts, all gone in 90 minutes the first day.

The Yaris was front and center on Tues.

They changed things up for Wed.

Mr. GT5 having a test fit before the big race. I think his phone call was, "the Yaris is awesome, ship the game NOW."

The Yaris needed a bit more bling for the big show... And the SEMA wheels just showed up.

The Yaris is back home, in the very nondescript warehouse where we first picked it up. Up next is the photo shoot with the American Eagle racecar, then off to SEMA.

Spotted a few more Yari collecting dust among the concepts and random show pieces.

that's kind of sad to think that all those great, old showcars just sit in warehouses because corporations own them and nobody really knows what to do with them. i hope the sportscar yaris doesn't end up with a similar fate, but who knows.....?

Nearly every program/media/test fleet/show car has a short life span. I am not sure the time frame with Toyota, but from people I know at Mazda and Honda it is most often three years... Then they are crushed. From what I heard today the date with the crusher is going to be soon for many of the "older" cars at this location. The place is packed, and they need space for new stuff. Keep in mind many of these are pre-production, so they could never be used on the street. Our Nissan racecar is VIN 81, and can never be anything but a racecar.

Not a done deal yet... But the word is we might get to run it one more year. However, it still has to get past the media day and our guest drivers in one piece.

^ balanced and blueprinted also, not all in the head work. An inspiring result for an N/A build on that motor.

Don't believe most of the info you are reading out there... Tons of people just take the Toyota press release and try to sexy it up - even the Toyota release has a typo, we did not start with a 5-door. The engine is not balanced and blueprinted, 100% OE Toyota bottom end, never touched.

Also keep in mind, as I said when I posted the old dyno sheet, this is from a Dynapak, these are not at the wheels numbers. While I think we made great power for our first crack at this engine, it is not a 145hp at the wheels monster. In reality it should be down a hp or two from that, since we had to pull what was left of the aluminum pulleys off.
