you can buy the factory kit from Toyota, it's come with instruction, nice switch button, but only blue color, or you can buy leds from anywhere you like ebay, walmart, advance auto parts, pepboys, and you wire it in to the cigarette plug just + n - that it is, so it's will on when the car is on

I did mine for less than 15 bucks if you take out the potentiometer that I installed so that I could make them as bright or dim as I wanted. I did the same as the others recommended and spliced them into the 12v circuit.

I'll try to find the DIY. Have any links where you bought yours? I'm not just so good in electrical things.

This is who I went through for mine:

http://stores.ebay.com/Formula-J87?_rdc=1

They sell different lengths of LED Strips and they are rubber coated so they are protected pretty well. You can cut them down to smaller sizes if you want. They are direct 12v compliant so no need for inverters. They have positive and negative wires, that's it so it is pretty simple really. As for a DIY I didn't do one myself because it is pretty straight forward however I do sympathize with your unsure feelings about electrical as I was the same way for a while with my car. As me to wire a house or classic car no problem, but for some reason as me to deal with our car's wiring and I was unsure. Be aware that if you installed a dimmer switch like I did it will most likely introduce feedback noise through your stereo. For starters I would recommend you go through this thread:

I have some I wired in to the 12v door circuit so they fade in and out with the cabin lights. I also put in a switch so that I can turn them on or off as I please to bypass the door circuit.
