Temporary lack of power steering, abs, fan, airbags!!
Happened today for the first time, 2007 model yr. manual yaris hatch.
Started the car, no problem had to rock it out of the snow. Everything working fine, drove 5km to grocery store. Start car to return home, no power steering, then I notice all the warning lights are on, airbag, abs etc. Continue driving home and suddenly I have my power steering back, this is when I realize the the fan has also come back on. All other warning lights go out except for the airbags. I was reading various postings about people having ongoing problems with their abs (various sensors continually needing replacement) such as here http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11533. I have not been able to find any info regarding what I experienced. Can anyone point me to a possible explanation. Thanks for your time |

Personally, I have no idea. Is the airbag light still malfunctioning?

Last time I started it up the airbag light was not on.
I noticed the fan will only work when set to 2 or above. This is insane! |

Hmmmm. I would start by checking the two connectors on the ECM for corrosion.

I am not sure where the two connectors on the ECM are. Would you be able to point out their location.
Thanks for your suggestions. |

The ECM is the silver box with the two large connectors on the passenger side of the firewall, under the hood. To remove the connectors you push the release, which is on the end of the gray part and rotate the gray part to the vertical position. Once it is fully vertical the connector can be lifted off.

I disconnected the leads and they do not look corroded .
The various systems are now working, no warning lights. I made sure all the fuses where properly seated under the hood. I also checked the interior left of the driver behind the little drawer and found that many of the wires could be pushed in farther. I have no idea if that would have anything to do with it. Thanks for you time and ideas |

This happened to me too!
I drive an '08 manual hatchback and I'm having the same problem. Checked the ECM connector and it seemed to be squeaky clean. I could, however, only get the connector on the right off, couldn't seem to disconnect the one on the left. Really weird stuff like when I was driving it home if I turned on the wipers (which weren't working either) the speedometer would go fall to 0 when I was going 65. Also, seat belt beeper wouldn't shut up and battery light was flickering on and off.

idk about the newer ones, but in 05 and 06 they had issues with the relay/fuse box module or controller or whatever. it was always random problems and mostly on corollas and camrys. but, if it uses the same module then you can have the same problems.
