Why do NGK say that IridiumIX should not be gapped? tip is so fine... you can very easily damage it! I could do more harm than good..

Just lookin for the ''good'' answer.

thx for inputs!

true, you aren't supposed to gap iridium and many of the higher grade plugs. The tips should be already gaped from the factory, but it is still good to check them to be sure they are not bent. There is not much point in trying to bent them back due the the high risk of it just braking. typically if you get new plugs, open the box and notice that the protective sheath of the threaded end is either damaged or missing, you should either not get them or replace them with some the the parts guys didn't throw around.

fancy plug shouldn't need to have the gap adjusted
basically, no sheath, no purchase
bad gap, pointless the re-gap

^ agreed. I meant more that I would measure them before installing, as they are not always perfect. Install a different one if the gap is incorrect. Little bit of old school thinking got in my way -- sorry about that.

Micro Image forums, online store and shop are now closed. It was a great eight year run, but it was time to focus on other things. I'm still selling parts on eBay under micro*image seller ID and customers can still make requests for anything specific.
