Tonavi,
What sort of speeds did you have to drive at to get that mileage? Was it city driving or were you able to get that on the highway? |

Did anyone notice a mileage increase or decrease after break in? My personal best if my first and only tank so far at 44.6 mpg. That is with i guess E10 gasoline in PA.

49 mpg plus
Recently purchased 2007 base sedan. I can get mid 40's mpg city/hwy combined and just got 56 mpg on the last tank with 100% highway driving.
Got so many great tips from this forum for hypermiling. I am not an extremist, but just follow basic techniques. I keep up with traffic for the most part, unless driving up steep inclines. Gotta slow down for those or watch the mpg go down the drain. With some practice, I hope to average 50 mpg overall. Almost there! |

56 mpg? You've got to be kidding. The best I've gotten thus far is 37.44mpg with a LB auto. I could kick myself in the head for not getting the manual, but oh well. Live and learn. I still don't understand how you guys get these types of efficiency readings....

Lots of good tips out there to assist with improving MPG.
Gassavers.org has a tab with "201 Tips to Save Gas" with many helpful hints. Driving is not the leisure activity it once was for me. It does require some concentration to always be thinking ahead of the terrain, traffic conditions, etc. Scangauge or similar FE monitoring device is a must, IMO. It has made me very aware of my mpg performance in real time. One can catch on real quick with what to avoid and what to repeat with respect to driving habits. Most of all, I make it a game. Always a good feeling to set a new MPG record on my daily commute. Last edited by yaryarbing; 05-08-2011 at 07:38 AM. Reason: p.s. I drive an auto as well! |
