Just to add my dos pesos, my first car, a 1992 Mitsubishi Expo LRV, didn't have a tach and it was a five-speed. It shouldn't be a real problem, although it'd be nicer if the car did have a tach.

Thats the crutch of the matter -- really doesn't matter, but a very nice thing to have regardless!
