Wink mirror!

Started working on installing my wink mirror today, finished sticker bombing it, and my gf accidentally did the side that faces the window upside down (oops) but oh well, still getting mounted. got the sun visors removed to see how i could mount it. does anyone know if there are any holes up there in the roof area near the sun visor mount holes? trying not to drill any holes in the car. will upload pictures of it's stickery goodness tomorrow, oh and my cup holders too. forgot to mention i did those in my other thread.

And I debated asking you to take a pic of Crashy's roof, too! Thanks much :)

I guess I'll have to make a couple little holes. Oh well. suppose I'll have to pull my headliner a little.....dang.

If I remember right there was someone who (On a civic I think) mountied in using their visor brackets (Elongated the wink brackets and screwed it into the stock visor holes to keep their visor functionality.)

HOWEVER, they DO make a window mount kit, I picked two up for my Ranger to install when I shave my side mirrors. I'm wanting to say the kits were like, four bucks a piece? (you use two)

EDIT-Seems like 7

Those screw into the back of the mirror! And to think I was going to make something like that! I never looked for those, I feel slightly not smart right now.

How are those for removing later? I've never messed with the windshield glue stuff.

To be honest, I have NO idea.

Its been too cold to work here lately, and Ive had finals and work. Hopefully tommarrow will be nice enough to remove it. I'm afraid of breaking my windshield XD Its the second one on the ranger after a rock fiasco.

It shouldnt be any harder to remove than the normal windshield mirrors.

(Im going to use a sticky pad made for the mounting instead of the glue, so we shall see, if they dont hold I also have the glue the kit came with.

I like mine a lot. There are pics somewhere on here, or I can take a couple of new ones.

i could have kept my visors, but I took them out. Saved at least a pound there! LOL

I'll start with sticky tape as well, if it doesn't hold, i will use the glue.

lol Cali, i don't think i'll put my visors back in either, if its bright, i put on glasses. as it stands right now I'm agitated my rear seats are back in, the girlie had me put them in since we are visiting Rancho Cuc soon. something about taking people places.....they can drive their own cars! that stuff weighs too much!

ouchies. I'm trying to source those for less than what they want with shipping, seems a little steep if you ask me. i should have this mounted soon. also thinking of what else to throw some stickers on, thinking the piece that holds the aux port and the door lock button. need a little switch cover though, since i removed my aux and it's a big hole now.

also, i'm concerned about mounting this as my windshield is brand new. lol. I don't want to goof it up.

Heat gun and razorblade. Get's it off every time, the heat more then anything.

Double stick tape won't hold it on, the front window will get to hot, the tape will melt and your mirror will fall off, on a weekly basis.

Just go get the legit glue for it, it's not hart to use. Just take your time and read the directions. You don't even need any tools, just make sure you use a razorblade to scrape the existing glue off of both the windshield and mirror.

I'm debating just taking mine out. They don't reach the B-pillar by at least 5 inches, and that's where the sun always seems to be when it's to my left...

oh, i had no idea that the glue would come off with heat, neat. I replaced the mirror mount on my scout, but being a truck i didn't really care about, i just glued it on and never thought about it. going to be ordering these after xmas and the mirror will be mounted then :/

I can also check the local mod shop, they might have them too. didn't even think about that. totally going there tomorrow.

these mirrors really need to be screwed into firm metal... otherwise they will vibrate and shake endlessly. I drilled two holes in the square tabs near where the visors mounted... I saved my roof carpet and lost the visors... otherwise I can easily go back to the visors later and you'd never know I messed with anything. I also have the wink mirror pushed up against the roof with a small fabric wad to keep the vibrations to a minimum.
