first oil change?
as i was looking into the owners manual, i could not seem to find info on when should i take my car in for its first oil change. i would assume 3,000 miles like any normal car, but then i seen on a sticker on my windshield that my first compliementaey oil change from toyota care package is at 5,000 miles.
Any info would be greatly appreciated ![]()

After your free change, consider doing the changes yourself. Remember to rotate the tires every 5k.

i changed mine at 5000km, dumped in some royal purple synthetic. dealer recommends first service due at 8000km / 6 months and switch to synthetic at anytime.

i changed my oil the first time at 1000 miles, then 3,000. Supposedly all sorts of gunk can come free from the engine in the first couple thousand of miles.

Took mine in at 8,000kms, and am now ready for the second oil change. Is synthetic the way to go or does conventional do the trick? Thats the question.

Conventional be fine , especially if it's TOYOTA genuine motor oil . That's usually produced by MOBIL for Toyota . Does the oil cap state 5w-30 or 5w-20 ? Just curious . Here's a Virgin Oil Analysis ( V.O.A. ) of the Toyota genuine 5w-30 motor oil by the Petoleum Quality Institue of America ( P.Q.I.A. ) , http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38616 . Last , is the oil change interval 5,000 or 7,500 miles . If 7,500 , may want to go with semi synthetic or a full synthetic . Let us know what you decide to do . Thanks and good luck .
