I could see a switch keeping the rad fan on all the time helping out a bit too, but yes, you want the intake air temps cold.

Wouldn't blowing hot air from the radiator be detrimental? Or are you (Viperoni) assuming that the radiator will be cooler than the manifold?
At any rate, some sort of wrapping or heat shielding would definitely seem to be in order as well as a phenolic spacer. Heat soak and weight are the two main reasons most OEM intake manifolds are made of a plastic material now (miles per gallon and tailpipe emissions). |

I'm only speaking from experience with honda's. Granted... a bone stock k20a2 (rsx-s) makes roughly 160whp, so in effect, it may be a magnified effect.
http://hondata.com/heatshieldgasket.html The problem I see is that these metal manifolds increase heat soak (regardless of the mechanism by which it occurs)... http://shop.microimageonline.com/The...GE-tig-1nz.htm Wouldn't a product like the above potentially mitigate that heat soak? I almost wonder if tooter's manifold project could have realized better gains via the use of something like this. |

SUCCESS. Didn't make much top end, but a nice midrange bump, right where you want it. Specs and dyno charts to be posted later. Couple of small improvements to be made in production.
I'm happy. |
