Seat wear
Does anyone have an issue with the driver's seat bolster wearing?
Mine has killed the foam and worn a hole in the cloth. The metal frame has a sharp edge. From getting in and out, it must have cut into the foam and then the seat cloth. Please relate any issues you may have found like this. I'll try and put up a picture.docB |

perhaps because you sit on the edge when you go in? I put my ass in the middle of the seat when i go in.
no wear and tear on my late 06 Yaris with about 86k miles. |

I have seen quite a few people with that issue now. Take a look at the thread below that I put together on how to change the cushions. They are quite expensive from Toyota, but you may be able to find used seats for cheap at a local junkyard. The thing that causes the failure is people pushing on the seat back to get themselves out of the car. If you look at the picture in the thread below of the bare frame you will see the two frame wings that end up poking though. For those replacing seats or cushions for this reason, I would suggest putting some type of edging on that sharp metal to prevent it from happening again.

Thank you CTScott The big problem is the vendor left a sharp edge on the seat frame. I bet there are two types of Yaris seat. Those with holes and those about to have holes. Anyone think this will be covered under warranty? It is a manufacturing issue as much as anything else.

I've got almost 80K miles on my '07... and the seats still look just like new!

I believe that the problem directly correlates to the size and flexibility of the driver. The set of cushions that I sold to someone with this problem came off a car that had over 100K miles on it and they still looked like new. With the other seat that I swapped out for another person, I met that individual, and he was a very large person.
