I'm an idiot help!
Hello. Great first post eh? lol
A while back I needed a fuse for the power outlet on my 2010 Yaris. Only had a larger capacity fuse handy. Meant to change with proper fuse but forgot. Today I plugged a bad multi outlet adapter in that shorter out not only my power outlet but power steering, power windows, radio, signals and not sure what else. Power locks and dome light work. Made the mistake of driving it and can't get out of parking spot at mall because I can't get it out of park now due two the safety override of stepping on brake not being recognized. I deserve to have a serious melted wiring problem but is there any chance I can fix this from a master fuse or something? I know I am grasping at straws. Thanks In advance, Stranded in Ontario, Canada. :-( |

Did you check the 10A STOP fuse? Do you have any spares?

I don't have my manual with me and no I didn't check stop fuse. That would be awesome if that is the case. Makes sense since I just checked the lighter fuse and it isn't blown. Is the stop fuse in the engine fuse panel or under steering wheel? I do have a spare with me.

Is the stop fuse with all other fuses under steering wheel or off on it's own?

With all the other fuses; the legend should be printed on the panel cover. Did you also try the shift lock override?

Doesn't look like the stop fuse is blown and neither is the shift lock. When I pull the s lock fuse care won't even run.

Only fuse "figures last one I checked" was the 25A AMI fuse. It was the culprit! Everything seems to work now. Thanks!

I literally just now, an hour ago, helped somebody with the "can't get out of park because no power" issue and then wrote it up:
http://www.reddit.com/r/YouShouldKno...rs_shift_lock/ Scenario: your car's battery is dead, alternator is dead, no power anywhere, you have to move the car, but your PRNDL stick is stuck in park and you can't get it out because the shifter is expecting a signal from the brake pedal confirming your foot is on the brake... which it will be waiting for a long time, because battery is dead and the alternator, too. There's a small hole near the shifter in which you can stick a rigid, thin object, like a car key! Stick your car key in there, unlock the shift lock, select N, put the key back into the ignition, unlock the steering wheel and now you can at least tow or push the car out of the way. |
