ATF?
Hey everyone,
Was doing a fluid check on my 06' Yaris with about 40K miles on it (65Km) which I have owned since new. Obviously with such low miles a fluid exchange has not been done and the original factory atf is still in their. However when I checked, the fluid was purple... Afaik, shouldn't ATF be red?? |

the factory is red in color. How's it smell? I read a short while ago on this forum that it is normal for the factory ATF to turn purple and does not mean it is bad. *someone else with knowledge of this can correct me if I'm wrong

Toyota WS fluid can turn purple under certain conditions but this seems to be normal from what I've heard from others online and what Iseen coming straight out of the bottle. Both my Wifes Rav4 and my Yaris have a purpleish color fluid. I also bought some genuine WS fluid right from a dealer to do a drain and fill and it was slightly purple out of the bottle so the color is purple to begin with.
Purple ATF means you have genuine Toyota WS fluid in there which is good. |
