The car I had before my 2007 Yaris was a 2001 Suzuki Swift (same thing as a Geo Metro except with a 4cyl 1.3 L engine). I purchased it new over Labor Day weekend in 2001 for almost 20% under the factory sticker. I guy I knew at the time said to me 'you can drive any car you want to, so why not drive something more expensive, etc."? I said 'Why not...why would I want to sink more money than is sensible into a depreciating asset"? The way the guy looked at me, it was as if I was speaking a foreign language

I've been partial to small cars anyway. I was a dispatcher in different jobs. Two delivery companies I worked for had Yaris' for delivery cars. But in 2010 I needed a new car, I liked the Yaris, so thats what I drive. I do say that since gas was soooooo expensive was the car became a good investment. Today gas is cheap, so more money in my pocket.

To answer the OP, yes I'm broke. Yet I will keep this car forever.

Being broke? Wow it can't be a user preference??? I don't like
big cars and I paid off 2 Yaris in 5 years 2 years ago a Sedan and a Hatchback took out the same day I dumped the offer for a Camry Hybrid to get 2 cars, got no bills and just feel an urge from time to time that I want an FRS cause I deserve it, but I just love the car and other than that I roll in a 1987 Suzuki Samurai.
My Yaris is pure preference
