Wow..... Thanks you guys. This post kinda blew up over night. You guys rock. I hear what you guys are saying and I'm so glad that you guys are voicing your opinion's giving me ideas. The main reason I was contemplating getting 17th was that I could use the same tires I have now and save some dough. After looking into it, 205/40/17 wouldn't give me that good of a stretch on eight 17 x 8 wheel anyway. I think you guys have help sway me in the direction of going towards 16 x 8's. I'm trying to do my own thing which I plan on doing a mash up of 80s style DTM cars and Econo stance car's. I'm a huge fan of wv's not a fan of their price of parts. That's why turn to the Yaris. I thought it styling was great it was pretty cheap and it's reliable. I think A fullface 17 inch wheel would look out of place on this car especially white on white. and continuing with the thing I do plan on building a custom metal and wood roof rack and I currently have a DTM style muffler that you would see on and continuing with the thing I do plan on building a custom metal and wood roof rack and I currently have a DTM style muffler that you would see on the 80s BMWs. I really want to do something fun and unique and I think that instead of picking a sign between the European and Asian car groups, I would make my own by pulling influences from both sides and making some trully unique. That way I can take it to that way I can take it to solo SOWO and IFO and get hate everywhere I go.

Hate to thread jack, but this thread is active and I just came into needing to buy new tires, so...
Michelin Pilot Sport's or Bridgestone Potenza's? On a 17" wheel with stock suspension, 205/40/17 or 215/45/17? Will the latter rub? |

I ran 205/40/17 and only rubbed when I slammed it in coilovers. I didn't rub on them at -1.5 or -2.0 inch drops. I can't really speak for the 215/45/17s though.

Alright guys. Does anyone happen to know the lowest offset anyone has run without issues as for ad brake clearance is concerned. I finally found a set of smoothies I want and I'm thinking about doing +20 on them.

Thx for the info. There's more options for 215/45/17 because it's a stock tire on newer cars. I think I'm going with the Michelin Pilot Sport's in 205/40.

I personally think that anything over 16 looks a little silly on small cars like ours. Again that's a personal opinion. But I'm very partial to the way mesh and mesh-esque wheels look on these cars.
I'm currently on 15x8 with +25 offset. Running stock tire size, 185/60. The front is a bit more poke than I like at the moment but i think it'll look better when I can lower it more. the back is pretty flush on the 8" wheels. Unfortunately I need to wait until 2016 to get some coilovers so that I can fit it better. But once these tires wear out I'll get 195/50 or 55 depending. |
