Unfortunately, there really is no such thing as an average or median lifespan of a clutch on any car. However, there are average clutch lifespan based on driver, road & traffic conditions, and driver experience. In my early 20s 65k miles was my clutch life expectancy. By 35 it jumped to 90k, at 50 I expect 160K to 180K miles. Its not the part, its how well the part is used. My wife could still ruin a clutch in 30K, which is why she does not drive a manual if at all possible. She a fair and reasonable driver but sucks at using the clutch well and she knows It's something she has no desire to learn.

I'm not ragging on any age or one sex over the other. I know women who are better with a clutch than I am and truckers who never need to press the pedal besides leaving from a stopped position to a tolling state. They are simply that good with the equipment they drive

I have over 300,000 miles on the original clutch in my blue Yaris, as well as (in the past) over 150,000 miles and almost 200,000 miles on two other manual transmission cars purchased new that never needed the clutch replaced (those cars = doomed re other issues}. Also..never needed to replace the clutch in any cars with fewer miles...even 90k plus. The clutch on my '14 Yaris doesn't feel as though it will last as long as the one in my '07 Yaris.

As I mentioned before, the drive by wire throttle response is NOT as good as the old cable actuated one. That this is a likely culprit for early clutch demise I believe cant be stated enough.

depends on driving conditions and driver. What you have posted above is various owners real world examples of how long an oem Yaris clutch can last. They seem to range from 60,000km upwards to 350,000+km. Essentially if you are good at driving standard and aren't racing your Yaris/drive in a clutch saving way then you won't really ever have to worry about replacing the clutch unless you plan on making it a 20 year car which it's more than capable of being

Also, just like water pumps and such, there are lemon/substandard clutches in every run, due to production variances, design or whatever. The question is what % of Yaris clutches are lemons, and is it a higher % rate than normal (like their water pumps in the 2007/2008 models). Certain components for certain vehicles just have a higher failure rates than they reasonably should (like the cracked engine block syndrome in the 2006-2008 non-Si Honda Civics, for example).

I'm at 160k on my clutch, clutch and transmission still works like its new. I changed the gear oil at 100k with Mobil1, other than that - no maintenance or fixes needed.

104'000 km on factory clutch so far. I carry weight/passengers and race the car frequently. Speculate a service life of around 200'000 to 250'000 km with my driving. Should note that my downshifts are double clutch rev matched, as a force of habit, instead of using the clutch to speed up the input shaft.
