SuperGlue on Body
Hi Guys,
New to the forum- hope everyone is well! Recently I applied some superglue, and as it happens some of the glue slipped on to the car body. It is not really bothering me because it isn't so revealing but nonetheless I wish to ask whether there can be a solution to this problem. Many thanks, fbq262ken |

If it's the 04 Yaris, Acetone should be safe to use on the clear-coat. Read up a little on Acetone though, as it can damage certain plastics/paints.
Cheers. |

Yes. Anything that is pure acetone will work. Put a small amount on a q-tip or similar and then wipe off with a clean rag/tissue. I'd wash the area afterwards with water as well just in case the acetone gets somewhere.

Acetone to remove non-offending superglue spill sounds alike adding insult to injury to me.
Id stay away from acetone on my paint....ymmv.

Acetone is a known dissolver and remover of super glue (cyanoacrylate)
just get some acetone based nail polish remover Everyone who uses "super glue" sine have some on hand anyway. Put some on a Q- tip and gently work the glue loose. I used to use 100% pure acetone (in the electronic circuit board industry) and I can tell you that it does not effect paint such as used on any car exterior. In any any event nail polish remover usually only contains about 15% acetone. BTW, acetone is a naturally occurring chemical in the human body. Your urine contains trace amounts of acetone for example. So it's safe to use. Some nail polish remover does not contain acetone but, that is purely because some do not like the smell of acetone. I wonder if you could freeze it and chip it off with a plastic scrapper? you know...with the canned air for keyboards. I know it is done on our paint for removing dents....just wonder if that glue has a low tolerance of cold temperature and would become brittle. Worth a try

I gave 100% Acetone a try today on my rear bumper where I spilled some superglue months ago. It happened while I was busy covering the hole of my rear wiper that I removed. I was holding the plastic in place and it started raining hectic causing some drops to spill that I only saw the next day
The superglue stain was quite thick and I used quite a bit of force resulting in the paint chipping slightly but I can confirm that it definitely helped a ton getting the lighter stains off. I even used a flat head screwdriver and carefully chipped at the glue and it cracked off quite well. With patience and a steady hand I'm sure the results could have been better but oh well, I think it looks better still.
