Lifting up the back seat
Have an 08 sedan, due to an accident the back seat is now soaked with rain water,thought i'd take out the back seat to air it out however its not coming up,is there a release latch? if so how is it accessed.?

The bottom cushion is just clipped in, but it is clipped in really tight. Grip by the lower front edge and lift up. Just keep in mind that it is held in very well and you need to reef on it to the point where you'll swear you're going to break something.

Rear seat cushion clips
If like my 2007 hatch, DO NOT JUST PULL IT UP. There are 2 hard-to-see large white plastic clips that need to be squeezed at the right place to freely release. Might need a mirror and a light to first see the release tabs, then should be able to work by feel. I might have used a water pump pliers...or an adjustable wrench set and oriented just right and slid upwards.
(breaking stuff is part of why I fear letting Toyota touch this car for 3 recalls) |
