Led bulbs no high beams(I thought) solved
These are the lights.
https://www.amazon.ca/NIGHTEYE-Headl.../dp/B01J7KJF0E I thought the highbeams did not work(daytime test)and was relying on the dashboard blue highbeam indicator. From further reading this is what is needed to get the blue highbeam indicator back Headlight Load Resistor Kit - H4 LED Headlight Bulbs https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...ht-bulbs/2179/ Or this fix(scroll down)putting in resistor.Luckily I can get these around the corner and will try tomorrow. This is for a cruiser so not sure if it works for a yaris though. http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...m-circuit.html (link to resistor for any Canadians) http://www.thesource.ca/en-ca/tvs-an...ack)/p/2719018 As far as the brightness goes they dont appear as bright in the daylight.I think that is because of the color temperature? I will see tonight how they look. Hope this helps others. Last edited by Pinchlite; 02-17-2017 at 03:14 PM. |

This is starting to look like an expensive solution. I wonder why no one seems to be selling straight plug-compatible LED versions of regular headlight bulbs. They don't even have to be super bright.

I will find out tomorrow after putting in resistors and update. As far as the led's go they are comparable in price to good name halogens. They use less amperage, should be brighter and last longer. |

So around $50 + $18 for a pair of bulbs. Still looks a little pricey to me. However, given that the 2nd gen Yaris is a little older technology wise, maybe this resistor thing won't be needed.

highbeam indicator light

The load resistor is optional. Buying seperate resistor($6.99 CAD) and doing the mod may resolve issue. The issue being that the blue highbeam light in the instrument cluster does not light up when highbeams are activated. I could probaly get the resistors much, much cheaper but I can get locally for the $6.99. You need to read my entire post carefully. I have 2007 2DR HB btw. I will be heading out in a couple hours to test the new lights in the dark. |
