It might help to put one side of the car up on a curb.

I don't have any issues changing my oil without a jack, in the parking lot of my apartment complex. Mine is a '09, but the engine is the same. The drain plug is right there on the side, instead of in the back like most cars. Makes it really easy to reach. The oil filter is easy to grab, too. Heck, it's safer to skip the jack, anyway. No chance of the car falling on you.
Go for it. |

fast fluid drains hot
I set up everything for all fluid changes after a drive. Then rev engine and drain as quickly as possible. Oil going into the oil pump's relief valve is unfiltered and a tiny piece of junk wedged just right could jam a piston type valve open and kill oil pressure.
The less that settles the best. (obviously must be done avoiding hot fluid on skin) |
