AutoX newbie - need some help
I'm looking to start doing some autox this summer to push my Vios to its limit as well as better my driving. There's only so much fun to be had on public roads before you become an asshat or just simply dangerous.
Looking for tips from those of you who remember your first time starting autox. Also for any locals in the gta and area: how do you go about finding events in the area? Any locals frequent autox events and want to join up? I'd rather learn from someone, especially someone with the same car as myself. Seems like this would be more fun to do with someone then going solo

You've already gone off the deep end with mods (SMF!) so the basic rule of "learn to drive before adding power" doesn't apply.
I would suggest just finding a local event, getting in touch with the organizers beforehand and find someone to be your coach. Having a veteran in the car to help with navigation and immediate feedback is priceless. You're going to be so completely cranked on adrenaline the first event that it really won't matter how slow you went or how many (dozen) cones you murdered. Yes, we've all been there in some form or another. |

Local clubs here do AutoX 101 courses. They are a good way to get lots of seat-time and an instructor if they do them there.
Other than that, just sign up for events and listen to the experienced guys. Most people in autoX are super friendly/helpful. I'd suggest to pick one thing per event you want to concentrate on improving and have that be your main focus for the day. After each event/run look back and pick one thing you did well, and one thing that needs improvement. And walk the course at least 3 times in the morning when new. Makes a huge difference. |

SCCA provides starting line schools all around. Talk to your region about trying to get one started. Volunteer as much as you can. Clubs really appreciate it.
https://www.scca.com/pages/starting-line Also Evolution school is really good. Just do the 1 day, and maybe a year or 2 do it again and do the advanced 2nd day class http://evoschool.com/
