Honda Manifold
so i had some industrious thinking today... and went to the local wrecking yard.
so i took the exhaust manifold off of a 99 civic and compared it to a 1nz (my 03 echo) i was gambling that the 1.5L displacement would translate to a similar bore spacing and put the intake and exhaust ports in a close distance not sure which version of the D series engine i took but i can always go back and recheck. BUT the exhaust ports were a virtual match. the oval shape honda exhaust ports matched excellent. meaning, you can get a turbo manifold designed for a honda, cut the flange off and put a 1nz flange on , and for way less effort, an inexpensive mass produced part so this style ![]() just cut off and put this on ![]() |

Better Idea, buy manifold, and weld in material to redrill holes using a gasket as a template. belt sand the surface down to flat and have at ye
welding around a flange is insanely hard in comparison, |

but the port shape will have to change a little bit.
i thought it would be better/cheaper than getting a brand new manifold designed and fabricated |

port shape on the way out of the exhaust side of the head isnt as important as port shape of the intake going in.

I was thinking about something like this but when I looked, the k series manifolds look to be a better fit

which is odd, since the k series is a much bigger engine
- i wouldn't think the bore spacing would match as well. |

hmm. I wonder if the Honda Fit would be a better fit.

Is the exhaust all that restricted on a yaris? And if so, is the manifold that big of a bottleneck?

the manifold is slightly restrictive, like most stock manifolds. |
