'07 Hatch rear coil spring (stock ride) rec?
My '07 needs new springs to pass inspection. It's got 200k and is a bit of a beater and I'm not sure how much longer it'll last (I mean, I hope quite a while, but, well....) so I don't really care about lowering/hi-perf, etc, just stock ride and cheap(fish). But I'm finding options all over the place- for example I can find 3 different models of Monroe springs ranging from about $30 to $100, but nothing saying what the differences are between them... Anyone have a model recommendation?
And.... anything else that normally gets replaced with the springs (the shocks were replaced about a year ago..)? Thx |

May as well get some lowering springs if you can afford it, won't be much more and have it handle a little bit better for the rest of its life. Keep her serviced and she will make it to 500k+

If you are capable, swap the springs out of your '12 to get you through inspection.

Upstate NY has god-awful roads, & and can get a lot of snow (in addition to having a loooooong and quite rough driveway...!), so really want to stay with stock height.

Ended up buying from toyotapartsoverstock dot com.... not exactly cheap, and it took quite a while to get the springs & insulators. One of the old springs really just had a bit chipped/rusted off the very end of it- seemed kind of extreme to fail the inspection for that, but I will say the ride has improved and most of the clunking I'd get on rough roads has gone away. My '12 is also pretty clunky, too, but I'm wondering if it has more to do with the rubber insulators than the springs themselves...
