Slice open a chiabotta roll, toast under the broiler. On 1 side layer swiss cheese, brown sugar baked ham & hard salami. On the other side layer provolone, more ham & cappacola. Stick under the broiler again until the salami & cappacol are semi crispy & the cheeses are melted. Slop on some mustard or mayo, put the 2 halves together & ENJOY!!!

That's because a field of crops without fertilization, etc. produces less food. For the farmer to get the same profit for organics she has to charge more per item.
If an animal is fed only organic feed (which requires the feed to be made from all organic ingredients) it costs more over the course of raising it. As with all other things in a capitalistic economy, that cost is passed on to the consumer. It's much cheaper to pump everything full of artificial stuff to make it grow bigger, faster, and more of it, regardless of health and environmental impacts. Quote:
Your body requires some fat in its diet. You have to get it from somewhere, and using the right oils(s) means you can get all unsaturated fats. Good stuff. Wrong. There is nothing healthy - or even safe - about fertilizers, pesticides, chemical processing, etc.

Some tests done by news organizations over the last couple years have shown a health risk when eating organic vegetables that doesn't exist with non-organic (or the risk factor is less anyway)........remember all the spinich being recalled recently.....organic farmers use a lot more 'shit' to get their vegetables to grow.

*yawn*
One or two cases of recalls due to stuff wrong with organic food, and a century of cases of all kinds of poisoning involving nothing but unnatural, processed food. Any kind of food has the potential to become compromised if handled improperly. Just ask some conference attendees, sea cruisers, tourists, etc.

I think the majority of the anti-organic movement is being generated by the non-organic market. People are finally taking note of all the crazy stuff companies are pumping into their food just to increase its shelf life (a la transfat) and increase their profit. The organic thing is really catching on. And it's really not much more expensive. A buck here and there is no biggie. Give up a few 16oz colas during the week, and you've covered your loss. My wife and I have been buying 80% organic for a few years now, and they bank account barely notices the difference.

You can eat non-organic foods and easily avoid items with a lot of trans fat. If you're eating foods they pump trans fat into, you're already not eating healthy and switching to organic foods isn't going to stop those foods from being unhealthy.

Watch the future of food. All I have to say. Did you know that the same companies that made chemical agents for WWII use the same stuff for pesticides? Nerve gas anyone? They have also patented seeds (which is patenting life, a no no) and when these seeds get blown over to a neighboring farmer they sue him for infringement.
