Ignition switch heats up
Hi everyone, I searched but did not see this mentioned before.
When I got home last night I noticed the ignition switch was pretty hot. Checked it when I got to work this morning and same thing. Have not noticed anything else that would suggest a short/bad connection in the switch. Has anyone else had this? I mean, how hot is too hot? |

Mine gets pretty hot. I notice even the key is hot. It's usually after driving an extended period of time. For short trips, I don't notice it.

Probably so, I just never noticed on any car before.
I was concerned because it does not get warm, it gets HOT, as in almost too hot to touch. This made me think it might be a loose wire making contact somewhere, but it's been a while and no problems, so I guess it must be normal. |

Sounds like a trip to the dealer may be in order, better than waiting for switch to fail (or light on fire ). Thanks to all who replied!
