This is nice because you've identified your tastes for low end.

Ultimately when the I6SW is given a bunch of power, it will break up. I know the weaknesses of the Imagine sub line. I've removed myself from Team Hybrids due to some interesting circumstances in the team...I'd love to be able to speak more about the Legatia woofer coming out...but I just don't care enough about the brand anymore to give much of a crap.

I digress...That being said, you get something when you get that break up on the power and you illustrated the plusses.

What you gain from a smaller "bore" woofer in a smaller enclosure, even vented, is the punch where the mid bass and the sub bass come together versus the bigger subwoofer hitting lower.

The thing with this is, more of the natural music's bass is at the region you're enjoying.

A couple questions, what music were you referencing? Would you like some suggestions for reference material to listen to the woofer and the enclosure response?

Yes, I would like suggestions! of course!

This is my typical SQ CD I play,
also:
IASCA OFFICIAL SOUND QUALITY CD
Hotel California...
Focal JMLab Demo CDs, and more...

some tracks you may recognize!

Derick...when you have the chance, add these following tracks to your reference library:

Happy Days are Here Again (version 2) - The Tierny Sutton Band
Sometimes I'm Happy - The Tierny Sutton Band
Africa Unite - The Concrete Jungle
Kung Fu World Champion - Hiromi Uehara
Boom - Bluezeum
Bali Run - Fourplay
Grace Kelly - BYU Vocal Point
Suicide is Painless - City of Prague Philharmonic
Six Blade Knife - Dire Straits

These selections give a great new listen for the mid bass and sub bass relationship you're exploring.

After 500 miles with the 10"Solo-Baric I put back the i6SW...

and I'm glad I did! the i6SW is sweet!

do not misunderstand me, the 10"solo is great! specially if the WOW factor is at Max volume (but no more than 10-15 minutes for me).

O-M-G.

You were married to that brand for a long time. This is big news.

Interested to know what brand of ultra-high-end components you will be running next!

Seems like a small box for that Solo10. What is the xMax on that thing?

My Infinity 10's like .75cf sealed ( specs say 14mm xMax )

Not surprised you like the i6SW. Them smaller subs sound creamy smooth.

I'm so happy with my Infinity's... I have no plans to replace them anytime soon.

You should run THIS tune through your system:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLq0tpZZe7M

It's great for tuning, because it has lots of seperated elements, and a PHAT bottom-end!

This song makes my system sound better than it is.

I found that the Team Management was about money versus brotherhood. HAT practically owns IASCA. Now they're trying to "own" this new format called Tournament of Champions. The issue is, that there's a lot more money involved in TOC and the TOC owner is a bit of a lush (to say the least). I was witness to him dissapearing for 3 days on end during the last CES...leaving a shop owner out in the cold who had a show car to unveil at CES. Poor guy had to bring in his mother to run the sound shop because of the TOC owner's lack of ethical character.

It all comes around to the fact that one of the team management is good friends with this person. Team management actively attempts to stiffle any dissenting opinion and they refuse to let their regular team members know about the risk of investing with TOC. We're talking the risk of losing $300 to join and $75 to $150 every show...

That is why I've removed myself from competitive car audio...Because of the lack of proper ethics. I have a few other very costly reasons as well, but that is between me and the team. Needless to say, the team "help" cost me a world championship (literally) after said "help" blew up my processor the night before finals. I still managed to eek out a 4th place with a dead processor and a limping P-01 (because of the processor's "explosion")...

In the mean time, I have a fun hobby that has taken the competitive car audio space. Just last night I re-tooled my garage to include a new work bench that has an RCBS Rockchucker reloading setup on it now. All I need is a case tumbler and I'm set. I'll be handloading .38/.357, .40 S&W, .303 British and 30-06 rounds. My first gun show, as a reloader, is on the 5th-6th. I'm also taking the Oregon and Utah concealed weapons safety class on the 14th...

This is my primary now. I have a facility not 10 minutes away from my house by the name of Threat Dynamics. It's run by two fellows who served with me in Iraq and are fellow infantrymen. They have a really cool setup to run simunition scenarios through. IIRC, it has up to 5 screens and they use a stun belt on you for immersion into the scenarios they have.

As for what speakers I'll be using? I'm still running the Legatia SE set but am open to selling it off at basically dealer cost. I'm looking at another mid grade three way that I can whip into shape. Until I get rid of the HAT SE stuff, I won't name it...needless to say, it'd suprise most.

That sounds like a lot of really bad politics.
Too bad it came down to all that. You had alot of time and money invested in that whole thing. I'm sure you feel betrayed.

I do the "gun" thing too.
Got a friend who shoots competitions. He reloads his own .40 cal stuff.
He uses a Glock 35 tactical pistol.
I have a Glock 21 SF. I don't shoot competition.
I've got a CCW in my home state, but we don't even need a permit to carry concealed here.

My latest firearm aquisition is a Japanese-made .308 bolt-action rifle with 24" heavy barrel, tactical stock, bi-pod, and scope.
I still haven't shot it yet. I need to take it out and break-in the barrel properly.
Been awhile since I have been out to our local range.

I have several calibers, but no .40 at the moment. I had a .40 Glock, but sold it awhile back.
I also have an Armalite AR10, which uses same ammo as the new bolt rifle I just got. So that is convenient.

I have several hobbies, but i'm not really all that excited about anything much anymore.
Just getting old and tired.

Last year or so, my favorite thing to do is sleep. Pretty sad, huh.

Betrayed? No. Disgusted, yes.

I won't dictate on how they should live their hobby. What I won't do is let them drag me down. I was not happy with their individual attitudes. It was not a "team" except on the surface. The only part of Team Hybrids that is actually a team are the guys here in the NW. Guess who put that together? Yours truly.

Without going off too much further, I'll probably be out of the car audio thing competitively for several years...at least until I'm out of the military. Then I'll be working on my car project (after this last deployment).

As my audio plans go, this vertical tri-amping project is going to be fun, especially the signal wiring. I got the P-01 fixed and now the Bit One is next in line for repair. That is going to the same place that repaired the source. Great people over at Pyramid Audio repair.

No big or small, that is what Kicker want's... 0.66 cuft (period) no more, no less.

Here is the LINK for the manual

Yes, I like the way the i6SW performs, now the question is... what about 2 little i6SW...

Remember this little project?...

It's turning out better than I thought! my wife was thrilled after a couple of songs.

I have a prototype and I'm going to start working on version II, then I'm going to show it to BOSE and/or Apple, and see if it flies! it's a great idea and as far as personal project... works for me really good.

Be careful with patents.

Also, does your idea include the ability for the speaker inside the pillow to self-correct itself to face up?

No, the speakers are not inside the pillow, I'll send you a picture of the concept idea.

Usually, the box volume is based on the cone diameter + excursion.
( adjusted for peak target frequency )

Some high-excursion 10's like a 1cf sealed box. ( MOST call for .75 )

But hey.... everyone knows that. So i'm just thinking out loud again.
