^The nice thing for Derick is his EQ and level control. That will help tame the peaks the super efficient horns might give...

Mids: HPF 250Hz - LPF 6.3kHz slopes 24 Some thing like that... With the horns probably the x-over would be like: HPF 800Hz - LPF all the way up to 20kHz The Midbass will pick up from: HPF 80Hz - LPF 600Hz (My Guess) D.

I'm impressed how simple and effective MB designs are, the way they deaden and the treatments to the different surfaces is very clever!
Any way... here is the rear left wheel well exposed bringing the cable under the car through the body ground effects worked really good. Then I found a grommet on the top of the wheel well that gave me access to the Trunk! ![]() ![]() D.

40 MPG is possible...
If I take the miles range 565 miles divided into 13.2 gal it's about 42 MPG, in real life I think I'm getting around 38 MPG at the gas station, because sometimes I just can't hold my self and I like to floor it down once in a while! ![]() D.

SQcomp, if you are out there and your friend willing to answer some questions about horns...
Is it a requirement for the horns to run parallel to the floor of the car, or can I install them slightly upwards, not much like 3 or 4 degrees? ![]() Thanks D.

Let me forward the question...
I'm out in the back hills of Washington firing field artillery. The answers might be a little slow.

I preferred not to be looking down the throat on any horn. Parallel to the floor seemed best.
The reasoning is the point source efficiency may over power your ears...also, watch yourself below 1k on the horns.

I guess you are right, I've been reading a little bit and it seems that the horns need to run parallel to the floor. What do I need to be aware of below 1kHz? I hope you are having fun! D.

Be ready to replace diaphragms if you go too low...

The guy who sold me the Horns suggested to try from 600 Hz to 800 Hz and see how it sounds in my car, this suggestions are for the Full size bodies!

Have fun with it.
The horn bodies aren't what I'm concerned with. It's the movement on the diaphragm using lower frequencies... Think trying to play below 1kHz on a big tweeter and then compensating for the frequency response on the bottom end with EQ. I'm not saying below 1kHz can't be done, rather it may be more stressful than needed depending on the frequency response of your other speakers. Just be careful, that's all. I say start at 1kHz on a 24dB crossover slope and then experiment with lowering that point little by little.

I will,
I'm still far away from fire them up, but it's nice to plan and design. Will start very conservative then push the limits (safe) Now on my drawing board is how to make a mold from the glove compartment and then make a copy with fiber glass.... cut a hole and install the P99 inside. Any ideas? Thanks D.
