I would buy a spare glove box to make a mold off of first. Never use the original...too many things to go wrong...

Get that and we'll look at how the OEM box comes apart...THEN we'll look at making a mold or a one off. I might want to lend a hand somehow...

I wish I could just by a spare, been the CLA such a new car it's almost close to impossible to get parts at this moment.

Taking the glove box out it's simple, I'll try tomorrow to take it out and see how many curves are involve, my concern is negative shapes that would make the mold stick to much for an easy release.

I got into the Engineering Mode, and found this screen, but I'm trying to find out what's going on, there is one for each set of speakers, Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left and Rear Right... any guess?

How many speakers does your stock system have? That is the first thing I'm thinking of when I see that.

The image above it's only for the Front Left (6.5" in door + Tweeter in Sailpanel)

Then there are rear 6.5" in rear doors, left and right)

Exclamation

So I'm digging the trunk to install my amp(s) and a found some deadening at the bottom, not much,
I pulled one of the rubber round grouts and the muffler is right under that area and that means (HEAT) how much I don't know but

When I tap into the bottom sounds like a big Drum, not good this means it's a weak point and a source of highway noise into the trunk (rather keep all noise at a minimum)

After adding some CLD Tiles to the metal I will put a heat barrier follow by a layer of CCFoam and MLV as a base for my amp rack!

There's just something about the look of this car and the color combination you have which makes it pop...

Prolly the same reaction when I see a black edition AMG...

Oh! Heads up. At some point over the next two years, I might be coming up to see you. My wife just got picked up at GWU Hospital in the ICU. She'll be completing her (second) Master's degree out there as well.

This means a trip up to Maine in the Summer of '16. Massachusetts is on the way...

So this is the story about the tires:

Mercedes Benz... why did you put Run-Flat tires in my CLA!!!

What a shame and bad reputation for the CLA to have a "Harsh" suspension

Everything started with a little bubble in one of the tires (see picture below)... [I thought the vibrations would go away after break in period]

So I started to feel some vibrations, so I called MB for Service Department to check it out! I knew the reason was the bubble but I wanted to check how far they will go?

I called and told my issue, MB said come over will have a technician drive with you and check it out! I said I think is a small bubble but he didn't care, I asked about the vibrations and he said it's ok if you have been driving like that for 6K miles it's ok to keep driving . Took about 2 weeks to get an appointment...

I got there and... he jumped in and we went for a ride...

This is the email I wrote to my SA from MB who was aware of this issue and he said he will take care of me:

Hi Xxxxx,
I guess I end up very disappointed with the service department last week, specially at a costumer service level.
You know my plan is to change all 4 tires anyway, but going through this experience makes me wonder how other costumers are at their own mercy.

After leaving Mercedes Benz service... I was told:

1.- I'm sorry the technician didn't feel any vibrations! but there is a bubble in one of your tires!

2.- The recommendation: Change the tire right away for a new one! because it could explode at any minute but...(sorry we don't have any in stock)

3.- I said: "I wouldn't buy another Goodyear F1 RunFlat! for my CLA, I don't like them, I would like to replace all 4 tires".... 3 seconds of silence.... I was really waiting an offer to look for new tires but nothing, ok that means I'm on my own to shop for new tires.

4.- So I asked... Did they re-balance the tire with the bubble to verify vibrations? She said... "no they didn't want to do that because the tire could explode in the machine!"

5.- Ok, but they let me go and drive away with out a solution, like the first time I called the Service department and they told me "well if you've been driving like that for 6K miles it's ok to keep driving"

6.- Just after leaving Mercedes Benz and getting on 93 for my 80+ mile commute I noticed that the air PSI on the tire with bubble had 10 MORE POUNDS!

7.- I thought maybe they decided to over inflate the tire just to test the bubble if it wouldn't EXPLODE!

8.- But why leave it like that putting my life in danger with a tire with a bubble OVER INFLATED in a very HOT day?

9.- I'm glad it wasn't my wife or my dad, they would never had noticed and who knows what could have happen I pulled over right away and took air out of the tire and bring the PSI down to the recommendations by the manual.

10. So me very angry called Service Department and asked them why they left the tire over inflated... he said I'll find out and call you later.... That was a week ago and I'm still waiting for the call.

I'm very sad to find out the Service department lacks so much for costumer service.
I'm glad and I appreciate the Sales department to be top-notch.

Feel free to share this, I haven't post it on the forums yet because I was really mad about the over inflation and I wanted to calm down before writing a full report.

Thank you,
Derick Veliz

Soon after I get a call from MB service department and asked me about my problem... (for 2 seconds I thought about complaining about the over inflated tire but instead...)

I told him, "I really don't like the Run-Flat tires I'm getting new ones".

Then he said, is there anything we could help... I reply yes! install and balance my new tires at no cost!

I'm glad I changed the Run-Flat tires, my CLA has a smooth ride now, MUCH better cornering and a quiet ride is well appreciated.

I don't get the move to run flat tires. They are crap, they weigh far too much, and they are worse for gas mileage as well.

I assume they must be cheaper for the companies, but that is the only benefit I see.
