Again, experiece from a previous car. My Old 03' Impala's governor was part of the ECU. You had to get one of them fancy expensive tools to read the ECU and the governor was tied to the type of tires you had on your car. From what I remember you could switch the ECU to the type of tire you want to raise or lower the governor. Not quite a chip, but a modificaiton to the ECU.

You can also contact JetChip (www.jetchip.com). They did a custom chip for my son's firebird. Gm has a replaceable ROM in the ECU. I don't know about Toyota. Jetchip does all kinds of custom stuff and if the ROM is not replaceable, they would either have or make a module.

I run the HKS SLD on my AE86 and it works great for factory ECU. I wasn't able to top out the Yaris last time out to the track, but came very close... it would hit around 110-115 on the back straight and stay above 100 mph for most of turn 8. You need to be on a very high speed track to reach those speeds with this car unless you have some big power under the hood

I occasionally drive my dads Avalon and it gets to 135mph very easy... once you pass 135mph its just another league everything feels strange
My yaris doesn't go further than 117mph on a straight (i have not tried it on a downhill ) And it its not really a pleasent feeling in such a small and light car. Maybe with an very good suspension and other things it could be good. I drive on 18'' and its a little better but still never safe

Oh I misunderstood the question. I have known about this limiter but never heard of anything to bypass it. As others have stated, it does exist. |

I'm having an apexi Rev/Spec Meter installed, one of the functions is to lift/modify the speed limiter, so I guess I'll find out if it works on the Yaris (or at lease the Thailand models )!

I don't think there's a limiter removal for our cars. Then again, my LB hits a wall at 100mph. Going that fast in this car is actually kinda scary either way. I miss the handling and predictability of my Miata. :(
