well it depends, it may not even be a traditional key... Mazda's RX-8, for example, uses a flat credit card size device, the point is that you can use something that stays in the bottom of your pocket, that you don't need to fish out and fumble with.
Plus, racing cars use engine start-stop buttons, so it's gotta be worth a few extra horsepower just by its awesomeness...

The Engine Start-Stop buttons don't need the keys ~ The "new" keys for these type of cars are only to open boot and keyless entry.....some even just unlock once the car senses the remote nearby ~
As long as you have the "remote" in your pocket and your car senses it.....then you can Start-Stop the engine ~ The Taiwanese Yaris has the sensor thing.....from what I read on the website.....since I'm chinese and can read the language -_-"~ In my friend's BMW.....he just slots the key into a hole......and presses the Start-Stop button.....newer cars are more advance I think ~ I think it's a cool feature ~ Jaspie ~ |

My dad has 2 on his show car
He has one under the hood and one in the trunk so he can show it off at a car show. I could understand for something like that or like your at the park your trunk is open and you want to get your groove on but other than that its kind of cool little waste of money though (you could do some cool lighting or something for the price) Where would you get one?

I installed a push button starter...well i didn't do the actual install but what i meant is i got a kit and my mechanic buddy did it for me...
i did it for the coolness factor LOL...hehh eh..kinda like why i put those sport pedal covers on....so that it looks cool..it doesn't help performance..but looks great... i left it so that i still needed to put the key in first before it would turn on...i'm paranoid that my car would be stolen easier if you could just press the button and go.... |

What i like about push button starts is if you stall the car most cars require you to turn the key in off position then turn the key to start the car. With push button you just hit the button and you go.

Hey guys! I have a 2007 Yaris TS. In Italy the Yaris has an option that mine has, which has the whole keyless entry system. So there are spots to put it in! Although i asked if your car did not had it originally from factory? if i could install it later? Their answer was NO! There is too much to do and lots of parts to make the whole system a headake! Just though I would write you this. It seems like in the US is not even an option! is it?

The option in Italy is called Luxury Pack, and the price is 600 Euros, I would say about 780 US dollars! it includes the whole keyless entry system with start Button, heated mirrors and automatic air conditioning!

I would like a start button like the one that Honda S2000 has.
