Yeah, we get the full variety of weather conditions here and a pretty fair mix of city/highway as well. Honestly rust has been the biggest killer for me.

I don't know, I drove my beaters hard when I was young just like most kids, but I was also careful to maintain them as well.

I have known people who did break their engines all the time, but they were boring them out and taking them to the track.

I used to have an Accent and my wife currently still has her's. I never had any problems with my Accent other than a battery failure at 2 years and some issues with the Kumho tires they put on them. Those tires didn't have good traction and were easily damaged. It got totalled in a rear end collision at 46K, something my wife says now is good luck because of the problems she has had with her Accent.

She has a 2002 Accent and it has had its problems from the beginning. She had a fuel sensor go bad and it was making the car accelerate and not slow down. She's had brake problems as well and the same sort of tire issues I had with mine(her's has Hankook tires).

At 8 years old and 60K miles, she had a check engine light and the car became hard to fill up in that the pump would stop constantly as if the car was full. Turned out to be a pump used in the emissions system, which cost at an independent shop over $700(don't want to think of what the dealer would charge).

She's been telling me for years how great Toyotas are(she has had several), and I found my Yaris was the cheapest new car in town at the time, so I bought it using the money from my wreck as a down payment. I've been driving it for 15 months and have 10K on it and so far no problems. I never get under 30 MPG(almost all city driving) and have had no repairs at all other than oil changes. The car doesn't have much trunk space, but I can live with that.

I hope to get many good years out of my Yaris.

My girlfriend has had only one issue with he 08 accent, it was a bad coil pack at about a year an a half.

Hyundai replaced it in a couple hours under warranty with no questions.

Seems like a decent car to me... It rides pretty nice for the price too..

Usually there is economic recession in the first two quarters after a new presidency, then a strong rebound. But, with all that has been going down since 2007-08, it is having its repercussions now. Mind you, also what we have been doing presently...

One could say we are in a mild depression? I think various markets will rebound, including the automobile industry, but not to the point of full recovery. Systemically, we will still see laging sales in the car markets. Nothing strong like we saw in past years. More likely will be dealing in a zombie economy for the next decade? IMHO

I agree for the most part.

The main problem is in years past when there was a recession, after a while, people started to buy things again and this expanded the number of jobs avalible.

However now, most of our maufactuing jobs are outsourced so even though retail sale are now substantially higher than they were a few months ago, it is other conties who are benefitting from this.

I think it speaks volums that our elected representitives are not even talking about this.

It has been often said that after WWII the US made about 90% of the worlds products. However now, we make only about 10% of our own products.
How can an industrialized country survive when there is very littlte industry?

The industrial base that largely won WWII has been given away by corporate greed!

I agree. It's a brave new world.... A globalized world. So what does America need to do? Create an economy of substance... reality again... a manufacture base! Instead of balancing itself on service and credit. This is difficult because greed is not in a sense corporate. But, actually it is the system of global monetary policy (Central and IMF Banking) that is creating this modern servitude. Dishonest money creates greed...

As I said, the economy will get better along with the car market, but it will be quite sometime. Unfortunately, when it gets better it will again be bubbled and falsified...

"What's in your wallet?" Capital One Credit Card? Woohoo... lets spend and buy some vehicles... LOL!
