Ok, if I am right, don't reply... If I am wrong, then reply "no"
There is going to be a 4th gen yaris released to the States around 2017, give or take a year or 2.

I'm not so sure, Toyota has been moving away from that kind of engine development, and moving towards hybrid drivetrains for their smaller gas vehicles, and leasing diesel drivetrains from other oems for their international diesel cars.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say in 10 years unless Toyota radically changes itself its newer engine options are either going to be hybrid or eol gas engines. |

I am completely confused by your statement and still don't know what you are talking about.

Outside of more hybrids, the inevitable direct injection and Valvematic, I doubt there will be much change.

By diesel I mean sub 2.5l passenger car engines for Europe, where the diesel prices are more favorable than here. Trucks are a different conversation, since the US is a bit unique in that aspect.
I believe currently Toyota uses BMW and AVM for their current engines, but are going to be switching to Mazda pretty soon at least for the sub 2l category. It completely makes sense to me as to why Toyota doesn't develop diesel engines, since only 1 market uses them and they can get a much better return on their investment by using hybrid drivetrains. But I your likely correct, DI and valvematic engines will probably start popping up soon along with newer hybrid engines for the more popular vehicles. |

That extra Tq will help in a truck that already burns up rear ends.

they tried. They couldn't stop the batteries from melting during towing. If you'd take one and promise never to try and tow anything, then they might sell you one. Otherwise they have issues.

I think the issue of that Toyota doesn't have any Atkinson cycle larger displacement engines, and using an electric assist motor would require them to lease less efficient technology from another mfg. That and I don't think the existing CVT transmissions are durable enough. I'm sure they've been working on something though.
