I like it as much as I do the 2015-2017 exterior, assuming solid colors instead of two-tone ones. It really isn't much different - just another minor refresh tweak. I guess the Yaris won't get a totally new redesign until at least 2020-2021 at this point.
I prefer the 'angry' LED 'eyebrows' on the headlights of the 2015-2017 SE better than the trend to move the LED to vertical positions around the fog light area like in the 2018 SE pictured (or are the LED DLR gone now and that's just a chrome trim piece and halogen fog lights?). I'm surprised they didn't switch up the alloys just to look more different from the 2015-2017. Overall, I like the rear-end design a bit better. Bet they still don't put an OEM exhaust tip on it. Cheap bastards. Car reviewers heads are going to explode in wrath if the same 'outdated' engine/transmission is in it, lol. - which I'm willing to bet will be the case. Hey, if it isn't broke, don't fix it - but it will definitely turn off those who insist on 'the newest tech', and make for good advertising/comparison fodder from competitors. |

The Yaris overseas has a 6 speed manual and CVT transmissions. Not sure why they won't put them into the cars here. The engine itself seems fine and outputs the same amount of power as most small car 1.5L units so besides being "old" I don't see what makes it any better or worse than newer stuff except maybe the lack of GDI garbage that still hasn't been proven to be the most reliable thing on the planet.

Just not a fan of the 2018 styling. The front feels like it has no grille, just that giant valance. Ends up reminding me of the Tesla 3 front end. The rear lights feel similar to other cars, they're not unique anymore.
Sorta looks like the Tesla 3, Matrix and Prius had a threesome which resulted in a baby and they're not sure who the parents are. |

Wow, the dashboard is nearly identical. Definitely just a minor refresh. The journalists are gonna love beating this one up.

Is that paddle gear shifters in the picture and a computer screen in the dash?

You Can read more here.
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/toyota/...ech-and-engine But something is wrong about the 1,0 turbo, because 69hp is exactly what the non turbo 3cylinder 1,0 has. But if Toyota want to be in the market in Europe they must introduce a small 3cylinder turbo engine, most other makes has one. |

I'm a bit torn, assuming this is going to be the 2018.
On the pro side, you'll get a proven platform with minimal updates that'll likely be very reliable. On the con side, you'll be getting an aged platform that is mostly unchanged for 12 model years. A dinosaur in terms of new products. Toyota knows its buyers, however, and most people (not us raving lunatics here) buying the Yaris probably don't care how many gears it has or how many horsepower it has. They know it's a Toyota and believe it'll run everlasting. However, the Yaris isn't a big seller for Toyota nor a volume leader in the subcompact segment anymore. If it ain't broke, don't fix it?

If they sell the US the hot hatch Yaris, I'll go buy it. Seriously. Good bye Koreamobile.

I would go for the performance Yaris also if offered in the USA - IF it was available in solid colors, without the race/rally graphics all over it. Not a fan of the oversized rear spoiler either, but I could hopefully remedy that, and professionally replace it with a normal OEM hatch spoiler with a bit of money/effort. I would prefer a lower-key appearance (SE-style) 'Hot Hatch', that doesn't look like it is begging for a drag race at every stop light.
