Nice burn! Ouch!!

What did you use for longer rubber hangers? Did you replace both hangers on the muffler?

No, I just got a longer hanger from AutoZone for the very rear hanger. Lowered it about 1/2 an inch. Just enough.

Dammit. I got the JDM TRD muffler sitting in a box waiting to be installed. Everybody else on the board simply bought a 89 Civic rubber hanger for the very rear, and it hung fine. Mine still contacts the bumper for some reason!! (Maybe I have a droopy bumper?? ) Any larger-sized hanger has holes that are too large! I'm going to have to take it to a shop and get a longer metal hanger bracket welded on!

A new exhaust shouldn't need a longer hanger. By looking at your first picture it appears the rear hanger is bent down about 1/2 inch, perhaps damaged in shipping. Maybe that's the problem?? I just noticed it looked bent and wondered.

I want this exhaust now!!! Damn you Ran, I don't have the money.

Probable, but it's a pretty heavy duty hanger and not very easy to bend. The packaging was also undamaged so who knows? I do recall that somebody else on here had to get longer hangers for their Tanabe exhaust I think.

Not yet. Hopefully my buddy will bring me the camera tomorrow. I'll be busy thru Saturday with birthday parties and Formula D, but I should have time to record and post on Sunday.

My only issue is with the size of the tip. That thing is huge. I though my tip was over-the-top. A nice square tip with rounded edges would look hot. I also agree about there not being much room to hide the muffler. Does anyone make a nice Euro looking skirt extension? SOmething like the stock GTIs have? That would be nice.

Not to diss on the product, but I expect more from a company like Blitz than to ship a product any less than perfect. That is extremely disappointing. They should be buying you a new rear bumper.

Again, not sure if it was damaged or just a production error. Either way, it's half my fault. Realizing the potential hazard, I should have put the stock one back on until I got the proper hangers. I was just too pressed for time at the moment.

Like I said before, I'd be a lot more upset if I wasn't going to do the INGS+ kit in the near future. A rear skirt should cover the burn well enough and if I don't put on a rear skirt, I'll cover it with an aluminum heat shield.

Guys guys.... its because it was built for the Japanese RS bumper, which has an indentation cut out for the muffler. Exact same reason you need longer hangers for the JDM TRD muffler. Not a product defect.

Just all the more reason to go import the rear RS bumper!

No, see, it isn't your fault. You paid good money for a quality product only for it to arrive defective. You said there was no obvious visible damage to the box, but if outside forces were to bend the hanger you'd know by looking at the box. That takes a lot of force. So, Blitz fucked up and you're left with a scorched bumper. If you don't e-mail them I'm doing it for you.

I think this is symptomatic of an issue I see with a lot of companies making parts for this car. These well-established companies think they're so talented anymore that they don't need to test fit products before shipping. If Blitz put that exhaust on the car before they started shipping them, why in the hell did you get one that scorched the bumper? My bet? A hiccup in their research department and a lack of testing led to your little problem. This isn't the only time I've seen this... how many parts have we seen now that have minor (or major) fitment issues? I know the car is hard to get a hold of for testing, but Jesus...

EDIT: Doc, you're probably right... but the seller and/or the company producing the product didn't care to mention this to US buyers? I expect better service and support from companies charging big bucks for their products. This exhaust isn't cheap!

Thanks Charles, I appreciate the enthusiasm. (^_^) Still, the scorch isn't visible at all from the rear and since I plan on covering it, I'm not that all mad. A little, yes, but I think I'll live. If Blitz tells you that they'll fix/replace my bumper, let me know.
