Sweet Scott. I LOVE the valve. Very cool and the way you actuate it, it's pretty much fool proof from road debris or anything. Very nice piece. It worked well on my first oil change too as I slight over-filled. The car really takes about 3.5 quarts. derekveliz2, The filter is VERY EASY to remove with channel lock pliers. Available at any hardware store. If you can't get the filter off with a good size pair of channel locks....you have issues. |

Why not use the correct tool to get your filter off,
http://www.upscaleauto.com/Oil%20Filter%20Wrench.JPG or http://www.classic-car-magazine.co.u...ter_wrench.jpg Extracting the filter with channel lock pliers can get very messy if you tear into the filter side wall. |

With Jambo's links... the cap, make sure you get the plastic one and not the metal version for your socket wrench. The metal ones tend to deform after a while and you'll have to buy another.
The size would be "A".

TWO TIPS::::
TIP # 1 when removing the stock filter (the first oil change) it will be very tight and no oil is on the gasket so that doesn't help things. TIP # 2 put oil on the new filter gasket this will make removal a breeze |

When I took the factory oil filter off I had to use a pair of Channel Lock pliers (slip joint) that filter was sure on tight and yes they never oiled the gasket.

I'm pretty sure the filter HAD some sort of oil on it, because when you buy a new OEM filter, the rubber ring does come with thick grease (looks like silicone grease to me)

Marcus,
The drain plug is at the rear of the pan so using ramps under the front tires not only gives easier access but helps the oil drain faster.

I am not a small person, and I never have to use ramps or a jack, I use a socket to get my oil filter out, the first time was a b****, I was down at the gf's, and I didnt want to go out and buy another tool, so someone showed me how to use a hammer and a screwdriver as a way to gain leverage, since your not going to be reusing the filter anyway. Worked like a charm and never did any damage. Now i put oil on the gasket and it comes off easy. I use Mobil 1 filter and oil.

ok i just did my oil change and i didnt have to jack it up at all..i also have trd spring as well on my RS... i kinna spilled the oil due to i cant have the oil pan while im takin gthe bolt out.. not enuff space.. oil filter is a little tight i did use oilfilter wrench for it.
by the way i went with amsoil 5w-30.. 2 days of driving and noticed an increase on mileage already.. i had mobil1 synth previously and i notice decrease on mpg on my first tank..and it went all thru out..so it maybe true that mobil1 still have a lot more friction than amsoil... ill start a thread on this... |
