well I managed to understand a bit more information about it, it's some kind of electric air pump to feed more air into the intake. I'm very confused as to its function, but most yaris owners here seem to swear by it. It's not one of those gimmicky air twirlers or fuel atomizers or whatnot, at least!

I am curious, your car has stuff into it that you have paid for them and u don't know what they do?
Dont take any offence mate, just curious.

Its just looks like a breather...but instead of sitting on the valve cover, its just got a tube and been relocated over to the shock tower Example of one on the valve cover: |

And I think hosmer has hit the nail right on the head, it would most certainly be a breather (CAI breather? ) ItsMyDaily, there is a bit of power improvement, but most importantly the engine is a lot smoother. It's almost impossible to stall (I could go from a standing start in 3rd gear), and whereas the engine would sometimes shudder a bit when changing gears, now it's just smooth as silk. |

It's basically just the filter cylinder, and the workshop here added the tubing.
I'm still quite sure that the TRD or AEM intakes would give much better results, horsepower-wise. |

Just a little update, I removed the angled horn-looking thing in the front of the intake some time ago, to try and free up the airflow. Power wise, it feels the same, but there's a nice extra roar when the pedal hits the metal
