low or erratic Idle
for you folks that are still having this issue of low and erratic up/down rpm at Idle I used to have this same problem and mine went away by just tightening up a little more on the serpentine belt. I figured since these cars don't have the automatic tensioner pulley you'll have this problem from time to time when the belt get's old and stretches. Hope this helps out the next guy out there with idle issues.

Sorry to necromance, but i'm having this problem now. haven't cleaned the throttle body yet, but i've changed filter, changed gasoline to premium, did "italian tune up" but the problem seems to reappear every now and then.
While on neutral, mine's an MT, while waiting for the stoplight to turn to Green the engine gets "confused" on the idle sometime and then drops low and then stalls. any luck with the OP? |

thank guys.
i'm inclined to thinking this too, but i've changed gasoline already. anyway it happens less now, after cleaning MAF (by removal and spraying) and TB (without disassembly, just spraying and cleaning with rag). however, the issue shows up every now and then. is disassembling the TB (to clean more thoroughly) going to help? i'm concerned about the DBW (drive-by-wire) hence not being able to move the butterfly/metal plate while disconected, making disassembly a futile attempt. also, is the IACV "cleanable" if TB is disassembled? (can't seem to figure out where it is by mere virtual inspection) Thanks in advance |
