It would have never crossed my mind to check the oil on a brand new car.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my local dealership at a 3. Wouldn't it be great if Toyota made the dealers take 'Customer Service' training. The dealership here screwed me pretty hard, ONCE. It's funny, when you tell people about it you end up hearing about all the other people who have had similar situations. They might sell a good brand of car, but in the end they're still car salesmen. |

If that new car seizes the motor due to lack of oil who do you think is going to pay for that new motor?By not checking the oil you just gave the dealership a loophole large enough to drive the car through.

It's not fair (and I've never checked the oil level on any of our cars when driving off the lot before), but I can see your point. Even if you could say the dealer is responsible for the oil level upon delivery, how could you prove they didn't put the proper level in if you didn't check it upon delivery? The little guy always gets screwed and I see no exception to the rule here.

So these dealerships expect everyone that buys a car from them to know how to check the oil? |

I still think that a warning light should have shown up.

hehe... take the car back, and say you will be filing a law suit because they withheld part of the product that was supposed to come standard, and as a result, has caused an extraordinary amount of wear and tear on the vehicle.

why should they not get paid to fix your car? they took time to figure out exactly what was wrong and then give you the option to fix it with a quote on price. toyota would ask for the failed parts back, and once they found it wasn't even toyota parts you think they will pay the dealership for the work? i think not

Most dealership automatically charge customers One Hour Labor for any diagnostics, the labor rates are posted..... and the customer is expected to ask about it. Face it .... your fault.
