Sorry marcus, I had Fujita and K&N in the wrong places. It will run more than Fujita. I think he his looking at $259.00, pretty much in line with AEM products.

Here are the cleaning instructions.

Step 1. - Tip filter upside down and tap the butt end of filter with the handle of a screw driver. Keep taping until dirt stops falling out.

Step 2. - Spray filter cleaner (soap) into inlet of filter, inlet is the same side the sticker is on, through the 3" rubber flange.

Step 3. - Spray filter completely with soap and let it soak for 1 minute.

Step 4. - Run water (use garden hose or sink) through back end of filter (opposite of air flow) and flush out the soap and dirt.

Step 5. - Repeat steps 2,3 and 4.

Step 6. - Let filter dry naturally (do not use a blow dryer) this may take 10-12 hours, it's best to wash filter and night, so it will be dry in the morning.

Step 7. - Make sure filter is totally dry before oiling. Filter should appear white.

Step 8. - Spray oil through inlet until filter is totally covered in oil, do not excessively oil filter. Do a light spraying and let filter sit for 1 minute. The oil will travel and soak its way through the cotton gauze, if the filter is not totally red in color spray it some more oil and let it set for 1 minutes. ( Filter should appear red in color)

ah, it's an oiled filter.
Are they going to make a dry version, like aFe does?

Subconsoius pulse&glide maybe. Brain registers the fact that I'm moving faster, glance at cluster - speed is up, but rpm has wound down some. This was on the 401 so I couldn't maintain a constant speed for extended periods of time. Throttle response is quicker so reaction to slight increases in petal pressure may be a characteristic that has changed. Gotta drive around more with this thing on to better assess.

not really a performance difference from the point that one is better than the other...it's just tighter tolerances for the MAF sensor in the newer cars usually means oil on the nose of the sensor will throw a check engine light . it's better and preferred to run a dry filter on cars with tighter emissions standards....

When he releases an intake to a new market, he offers introductory pricing. After that, regular retail would be within a couple of $s of AEM.

Currently no. I will talk to him about this when we meet up next for the dyno.

BTW, we will be moving the intake over to a 5 speed for the dyno runs.

And I can mention one way RPM's could be a couple hundred lower at the same speeds on an automatic transmission: Torque converter. More torque, whatever the source, means fewer RPM's to generate the same horsepower and horsepower = maintaining a given speed/reaching a top speed.

Hell, I've seen automatic turbo mini-vans at a drag strip, they usually lock their transmission in third with an aftermarket controller, and just floor it to launch.

Having a hell of a hard time arranging for a local 5 spd to dyno. Maybe he should just bite the bullet and run me.

Recent prototype dynos include:

'08 Fit @ 5whp
'09 Fit @ 6whp
'04 Mazda 3 @ 7whp

He's currently fitting an rx-8 for this kit.
