The entire purpose of good tires on the rear ........... you actually need to have the tires with the best traction on the rear or equal to the front tires on a front wheel drive....... That is what keeps the rear end from coming round.

I have found that in snow and ice I actually break free in the front end if I am in a passing mode.

The blizzaks on all 4 corners grip fairly good. No extra weight needed.

I just purchased a set of snow tires because I've been sliding around way too much this year. Going back and forth between my Yaris and VW made me realize how bad the Yaris was.

Get snow tires.

Yes, but there is one major difference: VW (Jetta) has traction control and my Yaris doesn't. The VW also has brand new tires, while my Yaris didn't (until the snow tires).

Best way to make the Yaris perform in the snow: strap it to the top of a WRX.
