I've never had issues with the seats either... have done at least 10 8hr trips in my yaris... about 40% of my miles driven come from 8hr car rides.
$1,200 worth of TRD shocks/springs/bars (that includes parts and labor at a dealership who discounts) will make a 5 speed manual Yaris feel very "sporty." Thsoe parts utterly transform the car.

The Fit "Sport" rides and handles much better than a stock Yaris.

The Yaris's seats are not "bad" - particularly for this level of car. Still, the Fit's seats are VASTLY superior.

Seat Mod Cost: $125; the seat "feels" $350 better.)

I don't agree. CR has excellent information for people looking at buying a used car. Can't say anything about their new cars reports because I didn't look there, but their used cars database is very helpful.

I had a Chevy 1500 that was listed as a don't buy in CR: I couldn't kill the truck, and trust me I tried.

I had a Pontiac Grand AM GT that CR didn't like: it was a POS.

Sometimes they are right, and sometimes they are wrong...

Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't.

Consumer reports is good for a few things. I've stopped reading their reviews/articles. I still check the reliability records. I think its still one of the best ways to get an idea about the quality of the car you are looking at - straight from the users mouth. It isn't always dead on, but it does help you get an idea of how many problems you're gonna have with any particular car.
