Hey uncle... I've taken mine off every winter (2 now... 3? maybe?). Anyhow... not hard to take off... stock one for winter, TRD for summer... and it's still in great shape.
Spray it with some high heat black paint (not the tip) to hide the ugly muffler body from behind.
